How much protein powder after exercise

Question

I do training at the gym and usually take Optimum 2222 amino acid supplement before training and then I take Ultimate Iso-Sensation whey protein after training. I just wanted to know if I am overloading my system with protein powder by taking these both on the same day. Is it okay for me to take these two powders?

Answer

You can take protein powder two times a day, but it’s usually of the same formula (brand), as they are optimised to give you a specific amount of each amino acid.

When taking protein powder it is highly advisable to drink more water than you would normally drink without protein powder. Too much protein per day means that the kidneys have to work harder.

Some useful nutrition advice:

Taking 2 serves of protein powder per day for around 10 days, together with one meal consisting of a palm size portion of protein and salad and/or vegetables. Ideally, the protein shake is taken in the morning and one in the evening and the meal is at lunch time. After the 10 days, there should be 2 meals per day with vegetables and/or salad and one protein shake is taken in the morning or evening.

The brands you are talking about I’m not familiar with. I recommend Pharmafoods Isowhey in the clinic.

It is wise to take omega 3 fatty acids and an acidophilus supplement when on this diet plan.
